My story
There once was a cat who had lots of toes

You know the ones, like Hemingway chose

Mittens the cat can be such a love

But with so many toes he cannot wear gloves

He’s still quite young at four years in age

Our big handsome boy with eyes of sage

Has a unique coat made of spots and of lines

And a body length stripe straight down his spine

He still acts like a kitten this silly, sweet boy

‘Specially when he plays with his toys

Lasers and wands a crazy circle too

After some time he may sleep with you

He likes to sit by the people he trusts

Give him some time and soon he’ll adjust

He loves to eat kibbles and treats are just great

To drink water from the tap he’ll patiently wait

He’s a talkative guy who has stories to tell

And like most cats he’s quirky as well

Mittens likes pets on his face and his ears

Mittens doesn’t like pets down by his rear

Please don’t hold it against him he pleads with a sigh

He really and truly is a lovable guy

He’d be happy to live as your only cat

Too many others have engaged in combat

He doesn’t want to live his life in fear

Hiding under the couch when another is near

Mittens wants a life just as full as his bowl

Filled to the brim is the ultimate goal
